Introduction

The Dell OpenManage Enterprise is the systems management software that runs on the Dell PowerEdge MX-series chassis. OME–Modular shares a common codebase with OpenManage Enterprise and delivers an agile, reliable, and comprehensive platform to manage PowerEdge MX-series servers, storage, and networking products.
OME–Modular improves service delivery and enhances IT agility for growing businesses by providing a unified platform to manage compute, storage, and networking. It supports RESTful API, allowing secure communication through HTTPS in JSON format based on ODATA v4. This enables businesses to integrate management tools using programming languages like Python, Java, and C. By consolidating multiple tools, OME–Modular simplifies administration, reduces costs, and minimizes the learning curve. It also supports remote management, making it easier to deploy and monitor IT infrastructure at scale, from a single chassis to many. Agile and intelligent automation of OME–Modular helps faster hardware deployments and reduces repetitive tasks for accelerated life cycle management. The following are the key features of OME–Modular include:

  • Capability to manage servers across multiple MX-series chassis.
  • Fast deployment with automatic chassis and node discovery.
  • Comprehensive RESTful API to automate multiple tasks and integrate with third-party tools.
  • Enhanced management with redundant OME-M module, touchscreen LCD, and OpenManage Mobile options for remote access.
  • Expanded management across all PowerEdge servers with OpenManage Enterprise.

Key Use Cases

Discovery Use Cases

  • Provides resource visibility to the administrator to view and manage resources available (Ex: Chassis, Blade Servers, Power, Fans, Temperature Sensors, Server Array Disks, and so on.) under different resource types.

  • Publishes relationships between resources to have a topological view and ease of maintenance.

Monitoring Use Cases

  • Provides metrics related to Performance Utilization and Health Monitoring and so on for different resources.

  • Concern alerts will be generated for each metric to notify the administrator regarding the issue with the resource.

Supported Target Versions

  • Dell PowerEdge MX7000
